    I know I’m super tardy to the party, but I’ll still say this: I actually think it’s refreshing to see a course - and an event - that doesn’t just hand out birdies every hole. Like regular golf, birdies should be way more celebratory and hard to earn, and I think this is a breath of fresh air in the current disc golf game. Anyway; love y’all and continue the 10/10 coverage!

    I don't understand why a lot of courses make the rough OB. Especially here, the rough is so challenging that it would basically act like an OB stroke, but there's always the chance of an incredible shot out of the woods or a putt through an impossible gap. Why take that element of the game away? Other than that, this course is super fun to watch, and I'm super excited to watch the coverage, it's just that one little thing that always bothers me.

    • @jaredvanamanmusic
      @jaredvanamanmusic 2 года назад +9

      Probably because people would whine about having to play in the thorns here in Austin.
      But I agree with you; the best OB is enforced by the course itself, not by the rulebook.

    • @jgray2718
      @jgray2718 2 года назад +4

      100% agree. Let people try to make crazy shots to save strokes. It's really fun to watch.

      Yeah this course is kinda trash fosho

    • @NickCarroll
      @NickCarroll 2 года назад

      Some woods have a lot of thorns, and it's better to mark them as OB. That said, there were a fair number of clearly arbitrary OB areas marked off that (I think) made certain landing zones or areas basically not worth going for. This leads to less interesting disc golf in my opinion. Definitely bring the challenge, but give the players more leeway to throw exciting shots.

    • @riv3ra625
      @riv3ra625 2 года назад

      Although I agree with what you’re saying, I played on a course recently that had a lot of OB and I remember telling someone else complaining about this exact thing, the OB plays a part on the mental game on top of the course due to shot selection and all that. Its an extra factor to consider

    I like the idea of making a course where par can be a good score. But risk-reward is better to watch than a hole where almost everyone is laying up from 100'. Seems like too many holes where only the most elite distance players can theoretically birdie and it might not be worth trying to.

    I have to admit, I kind of like the course. It isn't super polished and it could be improved in minor ways, but it's nice to see pros getting punished for being overaggressive and constantly trying to rip 600-foot turnovers in windy conditions with tight fairways. There were plenty of bogies that could have been pars if they had just thrown more conservative shots. It puts more pressure on the players' decision-making skills, which I like to see! :)

  • @kyleweir689
    @kyleweir689 2 года назад +1

    Hole 4 is an example of course design encouraging the rules not mattering. There are no mandatories on the hole, the second shot basically requires the player to commit a stance violation to throw to the “second landing area”. If you draw a line from the pole directly to the player’s lie that’s where the stance area is… they’re all running up toward where they are throwing while the basket is to their left, basically.

    this course is painful to watch they could do without all the OB that makes no sense. there is no risk reward plays just OB everywhere catering to big arms no scrambling because everything but the landing zones are OB. oh and did i mention the OB. i want to see them fight for the win not just that was a great throw. if there was somewhere that didn't have OB. i will finish watching this tournament because i like jomez. keep up the good work jomez.

    There is a disc golf course at Antarctica. Just a FYI.

    33:35 I'm impressed that both Nate and Jerm know that polar bears are in the Arctic but not the Antarctic. It kind of makes this comment unnecessary, but here I am anyway.

    Ok two questions:
    1) why out of all the great courses would they choose H.P.?
    2) did someone who's name rhymes with "smoked out Larry" stay up all night hoovering up cocaine on East 6th?

    Just not interested in ball golf courses anymore. Austin has some nice wooded courses and we get this snoozer course

    super nitpicky and unimportant but would it make more sense for the throw counter to be a stroke counter? ...so, for example, when a player is on their second throw after going OB off the tee then it doesn't say "throw 3" when really it's their second throw

    Jomez, the disc graphics on each tee shot really help improve my game as far as disc selection and exposure to new discs/molds. Thank you for all the work yall put in and I cant wait for the day theres disc graphics for each upshot and long put/slomez!

    I really think you guys should revert to the old podium placement tracking based on everyone’s score at that point on the course not based on clubhouse scores
